IndieManga news, con updates and more

Hi everyone it’s time for an update! Is it March already?! Time flies.

To remind you the shop is back open!  We’re a little low on stock but that will be fixed soon.

If you want to get a book or perhaps even some prints  then you might want to come see us at a con. We’re busy organising all sorts of things this year. We’ll try and add some more events, for now here’s what’s booked:

In London on the 28th of March we’ll be at the UK Web & Mini Comix thing, sharing with Caroline Parkinson over on table 81.  The Thing is an interesting mix of Small press comics and panels and pretty easy to get to as well.

On the 9th of May we’ll be in Bristol exhibiting at the Small Press Expo, which is running right near the Bristol International Comics Expo so you can visit both getting the super amazing chance to say hello to us and then pop on off to the Bristol Expo for your usual con fun.

In other news, Sally is also giving a paper on “Cosmopolitan Tension in Contemporary Comics” at the Academic Perspectives on Comics, Manga and Graphic Novels conference in Växjö, Sweden!  Everyone at IndieManga is wishing Sally luck, so we hope you will too.

More updates to follow!

Delay in orders from the shop

Hi everyone,

I’ll be out of town for the week so there will be a delay in orders from the webshop.

Thanks for your support everyone.

EDIT: Back ^^

Leek and Sushi out now!

‘Leek and Sushi’s Manga Show, 150 Years of Friendship’ is now out! Published by ITCH, the awesome small UK manga publisher, it’s an anthology book of about 200 pages of glorious comicky goodness!

If you’re wondering why we’re plugging it here, it’s because two of the comics are by IndieManga’s very own Sally J. Thompson and Kate Holden. These are comics you can’t see anywhere else, so if you want to see them, you’ll have to buy a copy! As well as our work, it contains work by a whopping 21 artists and writers, all collaborating to celebrate 150 years of peaceful cooperation between the UK and Japan.

To get hold of your copy and see some tempting previews, head on over to ITCH:

If you’re looking for some good reads, you could do far worse than have a little look through their shop, too. ITCH are very supportive of new talent on the scene, and definitely worth a look!

BBC Talk about Birmingham International comics show!

In preparation for Birmingham in the worryingly close October 4th-5th the BBC has talked to one of the organisers of BICS. Surely the fact that you’ll get to find out just who Indiemanga are, as well as attend an event deemed news worthy by the BBC means you have no excuse not to come!
